When Did You Last Review Your Lubrication System ?

During the next maintenance review, ask a few simple questions:

 • Has production capacity increased?
 • Have machine speed, load or operating hours changed?
 • Have lubrication points been added or modifi ed?
 • Has the lubricant changed?
 • Are the lubricant quantity and lubrication frequency still
 correct?
 • Is the existing pump capacity adequate?
 • Is lubricant reaching the farthest point?
 • Are sufficient feedback and alarms available?
 • Has the lubrication system been audited after major plant
 modifications?

Not every review will lead to a new system.

Sometimes the answer may simply be recalibrating the system,
changing the lubrication frequency, correcting the piping,
improving monitoring or modifying a few components.

The important thing is to review the system before a breakdown
 forces you to do it.

 Reliability Must Grow with Production

When a steel plant increases production, every supporting system
must be capable of handling the new demand.

 Lubrication should be no different.

A lubrication system should not be treated as something that was
designed, commissioned and forgotten. It should evolve with the
equipment and production process it protects.

So, the next time your plant discusses capacity enhancement, equipment modernization or higher production targets,
 ask one additional question:

“Can our existing lubrication system reliably support where our plant is going next?”

Because your plant may have changed considerably over the years. Scan QR to Connect

The lubrication system protecting it should not remain in the past.
